ONLEY, RAYMOND HARDY, JR. (AGE 73) OF TEMPLE HILLS, MD
Raymond Onley, Jr. (affectionately known as "Jim Boy"), was born on June 15, 1941, in Indian Head, Maryland to the late Elsie Lee and the late Raymond Onley, Sr. He peacefully entered into eternal rest in Clinton, Maryland on Sunday, July 13, 2014.
Raymond received his education through the Charles County Public School System, graduating from Pomonkey High School. He remained active with his classmates as a member of the Pomonkey High School Alumni.
After completing his education he became employed by the Department of Recreation as a Licensed Mechanic; after retiring he became a truck driver.
Raymond was an outspoken, kind, humorous, helpful, big individual with an even bigger heart. His trade mark was his friendly sarcasm. His words of wisdom were "stop biting your nails" and "pay your bills." Raymond was known for his honesty and he was a hard worker and great provider. Raymond was a man of his word. If he said he would do something, you could consider it done.
His greatest interests were his children, cars, photography and his barber skills. He was proud of the accomplishments of his children and didn't mind bragging to his friends. Whenever there were family events he would be there with his camera around his neck. Raymond loved to take pictures, especially of his children.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his sister, Ernestine Curtis and brother, Curtis Onley.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Nicole Thomas, son, Raymond Onley, III (Nicole) and son-in-law, Rubin Thomas, sisters, Marie Payne (Theodore) and Elsie Lee Curtis (Jerome), half-sisters and brothers, Karen Kay, Renee Matthews, Ron and Michael Marshall, and a host of cousins, relatives and dear friends.
His Viewing will be held from 10am until time of Service, 11am, Friday, July 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A. 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640.
