Butler, Sr.
November 26, 1953 – December 6, 2025
Ray Anthony Butler, Sr. of Waldorf, MD transitioned December 6, 2025.
The interment will take place on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, 9:45am, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
Ray Anthony Butler Sr. was born on November 26, 1953, in Washington, D.C. He was educated in the Prince George's County Public School System and graduated from Crossland High School in Camp Springs, Maryland. Ray was a proud father of his two sons, Ray Jr. and Randy, who were truly blessings in his life.
Ray lived a life filled with passion, strength, and love. A true car enthusiast, he especially loved Mustangs and spent many weekends at the race track down at Budds Creek. He cherished taking trips to Myrtle Beach with his sons and his brothers Danny and Vernon. These were moments filled with laughter, adventure, and memories that will be held close forever.
A devoted Baltimore Ravens fan, Ray enjoyed cheering on his team and talking football with anyone willing to listen. When he was not watching the game, you could find him tending to his garden. Ray had a true green thumb and took great pride in growing and nurturing whatever he planted. Cooking was another passion he shared freely, often bringing the family together through meals made with love.
Ray adored his family above all else. He treasured the time spent with his grandsons Branden and Carlos and loved every visit from his grandchildren Darius, Angel, and Kailyn. Watching his great grandsons Karter and Cayden dance always filled him with pure joy. His sweet great granddaughter Charli Rose held a very special place in his heart, his precious "Little Rose." Ray also had a soft spot for all of his nieces and nephews, each of whom he loved dearly.
Ray was preceded in death by his father William Robert Sr., his mother Mae Thelma, his oldest brother William Robert Jr. (Louise), his beloved son Randy, his sister-in-law Frances (Danny), and numerous aunts and uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son Ray Anthony Butler II, his brothers Danny and Vernon (Brenda), his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ray touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and generous spirit. His legacy of love, strength, and family pride will continue to live on through all who knew him.
May He Rest in Paradise.
