IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randolph Savoy,
Sr.
June 23, 1937 – August 27, 2023
Randolph Savoy, Sr., 86, of Indian Head (Rison), Maryland.
Randolph Savoy Sr., 86, of Charles County, Maryland was born June 23, 1937 to the late Estelle (Swann) Savoy and the late Earl Savoy. He was the second of three children. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hester Washington, daughter, Lynette Savoy, granddaughter, Maranda Savoy, grandson, Samuel Daniels, and great grandson, Cardier Proctor.
Randolph attended Charles County Public Schools. He worked for the Department of Transportation for many years and then with the General Services Administration (GSA) where he served as a supervisor until his retirement. While employed with GSA, he also worked for the District of Columbia as a truck driver. He worked tirelessly, holding down two jobs to ensure that his family was taken care of. After retirement, he expanded his entrepreneurial efforts to include excavation services. He supported community members, local churches, and industrial sites by providing affordable excavation services to all. He was known for his generosity in business. He will be remembered for his softhearted disposition, willingness to offer a helping hand to those in need of lawn care, snow plowing, septic tank maintenance, and grave digging services. Randolph was resourceful, dependable, and did not hesitate to take a chance on individuals who sought to improve their quality of life. He was very proud of his strong work ethic and shared his skills and knowledge to motivate those around him.
He will always be remembered for having a giving and loving heart. He was quiet and easygoing, yet admired by many. With his charm and kind spirit, he often left a life-long impression and smile on your face. He was skilled at cultivating fruit and vegetable gardens and took great pride in sharing his harvest with family and friends. He loved reading the newspaper and caring for his beloved dog, Spot.
"Grandpop," as he was affectionately known by his grandchildren, will forever be remembered for their rides on the back of his pickup truck, his hilarious criticism of their choice in music, his infectious loud laugh, and for always showing up, but never staying too long.
Randolph was passionate and motivated by four pillars in life: a love for family, a love for God, dedication to helping the community, and working hard for everything in life. He instilled these pillars in his children and grandchildren and did not hesitate to express how proud he was of their successes in life. Randolph will forever live on in the hearts and spirits of everyone that he knew.
Randolph leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Romaine Savoy; sister, Catherine Brown; seven children: Mildred Savoy, Shelia Savoy, Cynthia Savoy, Karen Savoy; Randolph Savoy Jr., Rodney Savoy and Daniel Savoy; thirteen grandchildren: Mahogany Savoy, India Savoy, Tiara Proctor, Melanie Savoy, Indria Savoy-Johnson (Kenneth), Dionneta Daniels, Taylor Snow; John Savoy, Kiril Martin, Dalan Snow, Elijah Appiagyei-Savoy, Daniel Savoy Jr., Caesar Appiagyei-Savoy, nine great grandaughters: Nyla Savoy, Kenzie Martin, Penina Tate, Keni Johnson, Jayda Savoy, Enamor Savoy, Malaysia Wooden, Journé Merritt, Queensley McNair; Great-grandsons: Rafael Proctor, Ahmad Tate, Dawn Tate, Kane Tate, Johnathan Savoy, Jaycee Savoy, Juhani Savoy, Quinton McNair and a host of devoted family and friends.
