Peggy Ernestine Lanceslin, Age 93, of Bryans Road, Maryland.
Peggy Ernestine Brown Lanceslin was born February 15, 1930 in Indian Head Maryland to parents, James F. Brown and Bertha T. Brown.
Peggy received her education in the Charles County school system, graduating from Pomonkey High School at the age of 16.
Peggy was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Indian Head, Maryland.
She moved to Washington, DC at age 16 with her Aunt Lucille Greenfield and her family. While in DC, she met John H. Lanceslin at a dance at Ft. Belvoir Army Base in Virginia where he was stationed. They were wed in 1954 at Holy Comforter Catholic Church in DC. She was a devoted wife and mother of three children, John A., Sandra T. and Mark C. respectfully. The family traveled quite often through the years, Frankfort Germany, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and lastly, Fort Knox, Kentucky where John retired as 1st Sergeant in 1970.
Her passions were her family, music, dancing, travelling, cooking/baking (best known for her coconut cake), everyone loved her homemade Iced tea and she had a green thumb and loved caring for her plants.
On Sunday, November 26, 2023, she transitioned to eternal life. She is preceeded in death by her husband, John H. Lanceslin as well as her granddaughter, Andrea' P. Lanceslin Penny; her parents James R. Brown and Bertha T. Brown: brothers, Fred, Alton, Calvin, Ronald Cecil, Randolph, Charles and David. Sisters, Thelma, Mary Helen and Shirley.
Peggy leaves to cherish fond memories, children: John "Tony," Mark, and Sandra. Sister Patrica A. Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her Viewing will be from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, Friday, December 8, 2023 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am, St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
Interment, St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland 20640.
