IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Winfield
Proctor, Sr.
May 22, 1937 – January 5, 2024
Paul W. Proctor (Age 86) of White Plains, Maryland.
Paul W. Proctor peacefully passed at the age of 86 after spending the holiday season surrounded by his family.
Paul was born in May 22, 1937 in Upper Marlboro to Parents Kelso and Edna Proctor. After high school Paul joined the Air Force and served until 1959. He then began a successful career as a technician for Navy EOD where he would eventually co-develop several patents. Paul was a dedicated and loving father, at one point working as many as three jobs to provide for his family.
Paul would meet the love of his life and his closest friend after returning home fron the Air Force. Doris T Proctor and Paul spent the next 56 years deeply in love, having four children and numerous pets whom they loved to spoil
Paul's greatest joy in life was his family and he sought to surround himself with them in whenever he could. He loved them deeply and felt deeply loved in return. He was a dedicated and loving father, often lugging camera equipment to his children's track and field events.
Paul's favorite activity was laughing which he did regularly on his sailboat with friends. The waitresses at Captain Billy's were known to say that they could hear Paul on the water before he arrived on the Felicia Faye for lunch with close friends like Steve, David and Cyril. Weekend trips to Ocean City, days on the water, and evenings at Goosebay were always filled with family, friends, and laughter. No seafood restaurant was too far of a drive or sail for dinner and no crabcake was safe. His later years were spent on his trusty motorized trike, commonly making new friends as he rolled along the rail trail.
Paul was endlessly funny. A call to his house would usually be answered with "Mac's Junkyard." Pictures had to be taken on his "good side." Paul had a way of making every person he spoke with feel truly heard - he was always genuinely interested in your story. He loved to meet people, and every place you went with Paul he either knew someone or was about to make a friend. This likely fueled his passion for radios - where distance no longer proved a barrier for meeting new people. Whiskey Alpha 3 Oscar Oscar Foxtrot's (WA3OOF) laugh and kind words will be missed by his radio friends around the world.
Paul's legacy is one of unconditional love, the impact of which can still be seen in the way his family cares for and supports each other. He lives on through the big laughs and kindness towards strangers which he instilled in each of his children. We will miss his light dearly, and are deeply grateful for the love, laughter and kindness that he brought into his family's life each day.
He is survived by his siblings; Vincent, Evelyn, Gwenette, and Linda, his children; Cynthia, Winfield, Timothy (Becky) and Robert (Carmen), grandchildren; Felicia (Jerimiah), Billy (Marshaunda), Chanice (Matthew), Chaz, Corey, Alex, Jon, Tyler, and Juliana, and great-grandchildren; Aaliyah, Makeda, Scarlett, William, Victoria, Holland, Tilana, and Gia.
