Obituary

Pamela "Pam" Jean Proctor-Hawkins, was born January 30, 1951, in Washington D.C. to Rosielee Ruth and William Andrew Proctor.  She lived a love filled life devoted to enjoying the happiness of her family and friends.

Pam grew up in Oxon Hill, MD, but was active throughout Charles County, MD. She attended Pomonkey High school graduating in 1969. During her life she worked as a Building Service Contractor on Andrews Air Force Base and was a highly respected Union representative. Her devotion to her work wasn't dictated by a clock rather it extended into her day-to-day life as she never missed a chance to lend a helping hand.

After her retirement, she dedicated a large amount of time to the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA). Pam previously served as a past President of Unit 170. Her leadership qualities helped her to develop Unit 233. During her time with ALA she held several positions; Secretary, Children & Youth & Juniors Chairman, and  Junior Chairman for the Dept. of Maryland Junior Activities. Her favorite and most fulfilling activities were those that allowed her to work with children and veterans within her community.

Pamela was a selfless woman that placed little value on material things and would give her last to help others around her, especially those less fortunate. She was known for her love for others, often helping people down on their luck or in uncontrollable situations. She cared for every person she came into contact with regardless of their circumstance. Pam had the extraordinary ability to give even when she couldn't.

Pam loved spending time laughing and smiling with those around her. Even though she had a no nonsense disposition, the love and care she had for her friends and family was never too far from the surface. You could always count on her to find her way to the dance floor and ensure everyone was having "just as good" of a time as she was.

Our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed peacefully on October 23, 2020.

Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Rosielee Ruth and William Andrew-Proctor, mother and father-in-law, Lirazo and Mary Margaret Hawkins; sisters, Blanche and Hilda; brothers, Joseph, William, Leon, James, Jacinto, Robert, Michael and Charles; brother and sisters-in-law, Melvin Newman, Louise and Alex Miles, Bobby and Eleanor Chase and Agnes and Frances Dorsey.
