Oswald Godfrey "Mouse" Jordan, 97, of Indian Head, Maryland
Oswald Jordan transitioned peacefully and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 7, 2024.
Oswald was born on July 7, 1926, to the late Wesley Sylvester Jordan, and Estelle Eliza Jordan. Oswald was educated in the Charles County public school system and graduated from Pomonkey High School. Oswald served in the United States Army for four years, after serving his country honorably, he was employed by Prince George's County Public Schools until his retirement. He was an active member of the American Legion in Bryans Road, Maryland, and Metropolitan United Methodist Church, Indian Head, Maryland.
On August 22, 1970, Oswald married the late Mary Magdaline "Leanie" Jordan. Oswald and Mary made their home in Indian Head, Maryland.
Oswald loved being around family and friends, always supporting and helping them during challenging times. He loved taking vacations with his wife Mary, watching TV, and reading. After retiring he enjoyed having breakfast with his closest friends at the local McDonalds and working in his garden. He also loved supporting local non-profit organizations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Magdaline Jordan, brothers; Hugh, John, George, Cleophas, Randolph, Cecil and Earl, sisters; Elizabeth, Celeste, and Ophelia.
He leaves to cherish precious memories, daughters; Veronica (Michael) Walls, Maria Wood, Colette Belfield, Joyce (Larry) Lawrence and Viola Booker, sons; Oswald Wood, Purnell (Shirlene) Marshal, and Rodney Woodland, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Oswald also leaves to cherish his memories, sister, Edna Livingston and sister-in-law, Louise Jordan.
Oswald lived a fulfilled life surrounded by family and friends.
His Viewing will be 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Friday, April 19, 2024, Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 3385 Metropolitan Church Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
Interment, 1:00 pm, Monday, April 22, 2024, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
