Jones, Newton Ellis (Age 91) of Indian Head (Rison), Maryland.
Obituary
On Wednesday, December 17, 2014, Newton Ellis Jones quietly entered eternal rest at his residence in Indian Head, Maryland. He was born February 16, 1923 in Gonzales, Texas, to the late Clive and Essie Jones.
Newton attended and graduated from Phillip Wheatly High School. Later, he married his high school sweetheart, Laura Marie and they were united in holy matrimony on January 22, 1943. From this blessed union five sons and two daughters were born.
Newton enlisted in the United States Army at a young age and faithfully served our country for about 30 years. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant (E8). He was a hard worker, sometimes working more than one job at a time to make sure his family was well taken care of. He never missed a day of work.
He was a dedicated Christian who often sought God for guidance and relied on God as his provider.
Newton loved his family and had a great interest in his children and grandchildren. His children called him "My Daddy." He enjoyed family functions, especially the monthly weekend dinners. His advice to his children and grandchildren was to set your goals high and don't give up no matter how difficult it gets. Newton was an example of this quote by the way he lived his life. He was not only hard working, but kind, humble and funny.
Newton was preceded in death by his parents Clive and Essie Jones, he leaves to cherish special memories, his wife, Laura, sons; Newton, Clive, Oliver, Joseph and Jeffery Jones; daughters, Audrey and Laura Jones; grandchildren, Anthony, Kyla Anrel, Ramon Willis, Chris, Kara, Brian, Imani, Marcus, Danyell, Veronica Willie and a host of family and friends.
