IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Neale Adrian
Swann
November 2, 1933 – July 1, 2019
Neale Adrian Swann (Age 85) of Indian Head, Maryland.
On July 1, 2019, the family said goodbye to Neale, age 85, a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. Born in Indian Head, Neale spent his life in Maryland as did his loving wife, Dorothy, who preceded him in death just seven months ago.
Both he and Dorothy traveled much the same path in life over seven decades. The two went to high school together but didn't start a relationship until a few years after graduation. He was enlisted in the Army for a tour, and for almost seven decades after, they cared for each other in sickness and health.
He also worked in munitions at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, but later worked for the 500-year-old Beretta U.S. arm, Beretta USA, the gun manufacturer, as a manager until his retirement from there. At Beretta he was part of a team that produced firearms that shipped to over 100 countries as well as to the armed forces and police departments.
He too faced a serious bout with cancer after retirement, as did she, but survived to give the family another 15 years. Prior to his illness Neale was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener.
Neale is survived by his children: Jerianne Lewis, Brennan, Patrick, Terrence, Keith, and Leah Swann, Robin Makle-Swann; step-son Andrew Makle; grandson Rashaad Swann, who they raised together; his brothers Ledru, James, Robert, John, and sisters Lillian Chatmon, Joyce Terry, Naomi Norde, and Ruth Swann, and a host of in-laws, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Neale is preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Godfrey Swann, his brothers Godfrey, Carter, and Charles, and sisters Helen Truxon and Emogene Ricketts.
Neale was born on November 2, 1933 to the late Godfrey and the late Ruth Brooks Swann.
