Obituary

Nancy Rosemarie (Barbour) Swann of Waldorf, Maryland.

Nancy Rosemarie (Barbour) Swann was born on August 4, 1946 in Waldorf Maryland to Benjamin and
Loretta Laura Barbour. Ree, affectionately known, was surrounded by family and friends as she transitioned into
the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Friday, February 22, 2019.

Ree received her education from Charles County Public Schools, graduating from Pomonkey High School. As
a teenager, she worked closely with her parents, and brothers and sisters in the tobacco fields on Berry Road.
On many occasions, she would reminisce and share stories about their farming experience, crazy adventures,
and even the trouble she and her siblings would get into on the farm. It was in her early 30's that she met the
love of her life, Joseph (Jody) Swann and they were united in holy matrimony. Their union was blessed with two
beautiful daughters, Kimberley and Terri.

Throughout her employment journey, she worked numerous positions in various companies in the field of mail
and printing production. Early in Ree's career, she worked at Diversified Mail and SOC Productions, it was
there that she found her calling and passion for training and supervising persons with disabilities; she was like a
mother to most of them. After more than 40 years of dedicated and faithful service, she retired in 2014 as a Mail
Production Supervisor with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in Washington DC.

Ree's love for family and friends was truly undeniable. She had an inviting spirit and heart of gold and would
help anyone in need….food to eat, a bed to sleep, money to spend, a listening ear; nothing was too small or
too big for her to give a helping hand. She loved family gatherings, especially at our annual family reunions,
cook-outs, and Sunday dinners at her house that would end with a card game of spades. Her grandchildren
and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She enjoyed loving and spoiling Jalisa, Quintrell, King, Faith,
and Joziah. Ree was also known for keeping everyone laughing with her many creative clichés and "choice
words" that would stop you in your tracks. Her favorite pass time pleasures were going to her Saturday morning
yard sales, watching Family Feud, Chain Reactions, the Dallas Cowboys football games, and Young and the
Restless (then discussing the turn of events with her sister Loisy). In her earlier years, she loved playing softball
with the BT Express team with her sisters and close friends.

Ree was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Barbour and Loretta Laura Barbour; brother, James
(Bubba); sister, Delia (Annie) Briscoe; her great-grandson, Messiah; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and
Mary Swann; brothers-in-law, Paul, Francis, and John; and sister-in-law, Doris. She leaves to cherish her
memories, her devoted husband Joseph, two beloved daughters, Kimberley Goldring (Tony) and Terri Swann;
four beloved grandchildren, Jalisa (Ron), Quintrell, King, and Faith; two beloved great-grandchildren, Joziah and
Ariah; her loving siblings, John Bennie (Sylvia), Steve (Robin), William(Donnie), Loretta, Mary, Ruthie, and
Vivian; her in-laws, Ruth Barber, Annie, Leander (Mary), James (Irby), Elizabeth (Sonny), Charles (Fay), Mary
(Earl), Catherine (John). Also to cherish her memories are two special nephews, Brandon and Andre; and a host
of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
