Mildred "Theresa" Thomas Taylor
Mildred "Theresa" Thomas Taylor, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina slipped peacefully into eternal rest in the early morning of Saturday, November 26, 2016. Theresa was born in Glymont, Maryland to the late William McKinley Thomas, Sr. and the late Emma Gutrick on November 18, 1938.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in transitioning to new life, by her husband, Henry "Buddy" and siblings and their spouses: Anna Davis (George), Francis (Effie), McKinley Jr. (Gladys), Agnes Barnes (Theodore) and Mary Thomas-Willis (Ederson).
Theresa was educated in Charles County Public Schools and later in life, attended A&T State University for a couple of years. In 1956, she was crowned Ms. Pomonkey (High School) and graduated second in her class the same year. Upon graduation, she relocated to Washington, D.C, where she met the love of her life, Buddy Taylor. As a young couple, they later moved to Nashville, Tennessee and started a family. Theresa and her family over the years also resided in Los Angeles, CA, and Greensboro, NC as she supported her husband in his career as an athletic trainer before eventually settling down in Winston-Salem, NC in 1974.
Theresa was employed by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem, NC. from 1974 -1986. A short time afterwards, she worked as a medical transcriptionist at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, retiring in 1996 . In her free time, she thoroughly enjoyed shopping, traveling, watching sports, The Weather Channel and MSNBC. Theresa also enjoyed savoring great seafood, ice cream and pies.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory to her sons, Monterio "Monty" (Barbara) of Hampton, VA and Rodney of Winston-Salem, NC; three grand children, Courtney Taylor of Clinton, MD, Clark Taylor of Glen Allen, VA and Reyniah Taylor of Kernersville, NC; sisters, Emmagene Baker, Gertrude Outerbridge (Rufus) and brothers, William Thomas (Mary), James Thomas (Louise), Phillip Thomas (Virginia) and Charles Thomas (Gloria); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing, 10:00am until time of Service, 11:00am, Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland.
Interment, St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland.
