MUNSON, MILDRED CATHERINE (AGE 93) OF GREENBELT, MARYLAND

Mildred Catherine Ford Munson departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. She was born January 1, 1929 in Issue, Maryland to the late William Joseph and Antionette Jenkins Ford.  She was one of 13 children.  Although Mildred was born in Issue, she grew up in Clinton, Maryland after her family relocated there.

Mildred married John William Munson in July 1950 and they were together until his death on January 4, 1990.  Their union produced four children, Albert (Veronica), Michael (Turena), Sharon, and the late Sheila (the late Robert).

Mildred was a housewife but she also babysat for family and friends for over thirty years.   She was a loveable, happy, joyous person who was loved by all.  She was a great friend and confidant.  She was the Matriarch of the family, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

Mildred was family oriented and loved spending time with her grandchildren most of all.  However, she also loved to eat, especially rice pudding. Mildred, ever young at heart, loved watching her daily "soap operas" and all of the "old school" Warner Brother cartoons.  Tom and Jerry was her absolute favorite.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Albert, Michael and Sharon, seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great great  grandchildren, two sisters, Roberta Johnson and Margaret Inez Matthews, sister in law, Mary Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter Sheila Marshall, Mildred joins in glory her great grandson, Joshua Munson.

Her viewing will be held from 10am until time of service 11am on Thursday, January 27 ^th , in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  The interment will be held at 10:30am on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
