Michele Eunice (Manning) Colbert (Age 74) of Lanham, Maryland.
Michele ("Mickey") Eunice Colbert was born at home to the late Samuel A. and the late Doris H. Manning of Indian Head, Maryland on December 30, 1940.
Mickey was educated at Pomonkey Elementary and Pomonkey High School and, in her late teens transferred to Roosevelt High School in Washington, DC. It was at Pomonkey High school that she met the love of her life, Jesse Harrison Colbert. The two were joined in matrimony on February 2, 1957. Out of that union one child was born, Yvonne Michele Colbert.
Mickey worked at the former C&P Telephone Company for 25 years as an operator until her promotion to supervisor. She retired in 1980 when C&P was purchased by Verizon. Mickey joined Grace United Methodist Church February 4, 1980 and participated in its many ministries including SPPRC, Lay Member to Annual Conference, Sunday School, Bible Study. At the time of her illness, Mickey was the head of the Communion Stewards. She was devoted and dedicated to any ministry she was involved in and she was respected and loved by everyone who knew her for her loving kindness and sweet spirit.
Mickey loved her family and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her parents when they were living and her siblings. She was especially close to her mother and when her mother was diagnosed with cancer, Mickey took her into her home and became her caregiver until her mother passed. But Mickey's greatest joy came when she became a grandmother. She was devoted to Michael and Asyja (who loves to be referred to as "the favorite grandchild").
On Saturday, December 19, 2015 at her home in Lanham, Maryland and surrounded by her devoted family, Mickey peacefully transitioned to eternal life.
