IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Gilliam
Collins
June 23, 1963 – November 15, 2025
Michael Gilliam Collins, 62 of Port Tobacco, Maryland.
Michael "Mike" Gilliam Collins of Port Tobacco, MD, departed this life on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his home in Port Tobacco, MD. Michael was born on June 23, 1963, in Washington, DC to the late William and Pauline (Queen) Collins.
He was preceded in death by his brothers in-law Eugene Blake and Ernest "Bonkey" Thompson, nephew in-law Wayne Proctor, and great-nephew William "Willie J" Blake.
Michael was the fifth child of six in his family. He graduated from McDonough High School in 1981. He worked several jobs such as A1 Insulation, Atlantic Telco, and Chaney Enterprises before moving to Florida with his daughter Danielle whom he raised after her mother passed away.
Michael was always ready and willing to help family and friends when they called on him. He had a heart of gold and there was nothing he wouldn't do for anyone. He was very outdoorsy and was great with his hands. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, cooking, chopping wood, driving the tractor, cutting grass, working on cars, playing cards with the family and going to the casino with his mom. He also loved hanging out with all the guys and as part of his weekly routine he would prepare food every Thursday at Joe Yates' house.
Michael had a very special bond with his sister Cora. This bond was especially shown when Ernest passed away and Michael returned to Maryland to live and help Cora for many years. As his mother began to get ill, he moved in with her to take care of both her and Bobby until she passed away in November 2024. He continued to care for Bobby until his unexpected passing.
Michael leaves to cherish his daughter, Danielle Collins, two granddaughters Laila and Aaliyah Beavers; his beloved partner Rosalyn Washington; sisters Agnes (Fred) Witcher, Cora Thompson and Rose Carroll; brothers Paul (Moon) Collins and John (Monique) Collins; 12 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews; his mother's partner James "Bobby" Matthews; aunts Dollie Reeves, June Proctor and Mary Jane (Queen) Collins; and a host of cousins and friends.
