Branch
March 21, 1955 – January 23, 2020
MICHAEL ALLEN BRANCH (AGE 64) OF CLINTON, MARYLAND
Michael Allen Branch was born in Washington, DC on March 21, 1955 to the late Elsie Mae Branch Moon and George Trower, Jr. He was seven minutes younger than his twin sister, Marcia. As is usually the case with twins, Michael and Marcia shared a special bond and always stayed connected no matter where life took them or what the other was going through. Michael was called to his eternal rest on Thursday, January 23, 2020.
Michael, who was affectionately known as Mike, spent his formative years in Southeast Washington, DC and received his education in District of Columbia Public Schools. He grew up with a tight-knit group of family and neighbors on C Street, SE Washington, DC. The "C Street" crew, as they call themselves, maintained their relationship down through the years with social gatherings and reunions.
Michael began an apprenticeship at the Rail Coach Yard in Washington, DC which led to a career as a train mechanic. Upon completion of his apprenticeship, Michael started work as a train mechanic at the Washington Terminal Company, which later became Amtrak. Mike was a dedicated employee of Amtrak until his retirement in 2015.
At the age of 13, Michael accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. He was a devoted member of Free Gospel Deliverance Temple under Apostle Ralph E. Green for many years. Most recently, he joined and fellowshipped at First Baptist Church of Glenarden.
Michael's chief passion was acquiring and restoring classic cars. He was an active member of Unity Thunder Car Club and could be found on many weekends participating in a car show or out driving one of his classic cars. He was very proud of his most recent acquisition, a 1955 Chevrolet Bel-Air.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents George and Gertrude Trower, three biological children, the eldest, Natasha Branch Jones (Jerry), daughter of Felicia Perry Williams, Ashley Branch and Ryan Branch (Brittany) from his marriage to Camilla Branch Johns; two stepchildren, Malaika Lindo (Wally) and Yoko Makembe, his wife Josephine Kida; three sisters, Marcia Branch-Pettiford, Regina Branch-Curtis, and Angela Trower, a brother, Craig Trower (Latonya); four step-brothers, Calvin, Frankie, Jerry, and Wendell Kinney; one uncle, Wesley Branch (Carlene), two aunts, Virginia Holmes, and Flora Harrod, one grandson, Isaiah Silvan; four nephews, Michael Branch Curtis, Mark Branch (Terri), Thomas Pettiford, Jr. and Antonio Howard, four nieces, Antionette Curtis-Jones, Tracie Curtis, Martina Curtis-Duvernay, and Zakkiyya Pettiford, and a host of extended family and friends.
