Melvin Theodore Montgomery – one of the triplets of the late Reginald,Sr. and Alice Montgomery of Ironsides. He was born on June 12, 1961 in Washington, DC and transitioned to his eternal home on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Genesis Healthcare in Waldorf, MD.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Wanda Barnes; three brothers; Bernard, Jeffrey, and John Montgomery; sisters-in-law; Shirley and Elizabeth Montgomery, and brother-in-law, Eric Riley.

He was educated in the Charles County Public School System in Maryland. He was employed with the Charles County Public School System, LaPlata, MD, and later worked as a handyman for his family and friends.

He was definitely hard-headed, and you could not tell him anything because he knew everything. He loved to dance, watching his Monday Night Wrestling (WWE), Westerns, and Law and Order. His favorite past-time was joking around while hanging with family and friends, playing cards.

Melvin leaves to cherish his loving memory, two daughters, Belinda and Regina Montgomery, and a bonus daughter Joyce Wright and his nine grandchildren, six brothers, Reginald Grafton, Jr (Liz), Lionel, Sr. (Mae), Thomas Michael (Diltricia), Calvin (Dalisa), Alvin and Rodney Lamar Montgomery; three sisters, Shelia (John) Ford, Theresa (Fabian) Carroll and Eunice Riley, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces,nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Friends may visit with the family Friday, January 30, 2026 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD 20640.Interment will be held at a later date.
