IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melvin Eugene
Dorsey
June 2, 1958 – January 5, 2022
MELVIN EUGENE DORSEY (AGE 63) OF WALDORF, MARYLAND
Melvin Eugene Dorsey was born June 2, 1958 in LaPlata, MD to Dorothy Cecelia Goldring and the late Joseph "Mickey" Woodland. While Melvin never had the opportunity to know his biological father, God provided him an earthly father in the late Charles Goldring who raised him as his own. Melvin was called to his heavenly home on January 5, 2022.
Melvin attended Charles County schools, graduating from LaPlata High School in 1976. After high school he enrolled in the Army National Guard, where he served honorably. He then worked for G & B Insulation for several years until he found the occupation that he loved – driving commuter buses. Melvin loved driving the buses and interacting with people from all walks of life.
Melvin met the love of his life, Adrienne Waymer Dorsey, in May 1999 and made her his wife on August 25, 2001. Adrienne brought her two sons Derek Lee and Stephen "Bubba" Pelerin to the union and Melvin, like his father Charles, loved and raised Derek and Stephen as his own.
Melvin was a quiet and humble man, loving, kind and caring. It is difficult to recall him ever raising his voice in anger. Melvin lived his life to the fullest and without fear, he was always up for a new adventure. He loved music, dancing, football (Hail to The Redskins) and traveling. Most of all Melvin loved spending time with his family and friends. Melvin had a beautiful smile, hearty laugh, and a heart filled with love that he gave freely.
Melvin was preceded in death by both Joseph "Mickey" Woodland and Charles Goldring. To carry on his memory he leaves his mother, Dorothy Goldring, his wife, Adrienne Dorsey, sons, Derek Lee and Stephen Pelerin, and his Daughter In Love - Ivy Harrington Lee. Melvin is survived by his siblings, Louis Goldring, Sheila Goldring, Terry Goldring Glascoe (Samuel), Linda Dorsey, Timothy "Timmy" Goldring (Patty), Charlene Goldring, Jamie Goldring, his baby sister Peggy "Peg Leg" Goldring, Betty Brisco and his Godchildren Cedric Dunbar and Keasia Dorsey. He also leaves behind five aunts, one uncle, one brother in-law, three sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
