Melvin Stevenson Blake

Melvin Stevenson Blake, was born to the late Dorothy Ford and late Levi Raymond Blake on August 4, 1959. Melvin departed this earthly life on June 14, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Melvin spent most of his life in Charles County, MD. He attended Charles County public schools and graduated from Thomas Stone High School in 1977.

Melvin worked several jobs. He also ran a construction business with his brother-in-law, George Craig, before going into the Federal government until his retirement from Ù.S. Architects of the Capitol in 2022.

He enjoyed grilling, watching sports as wellas watching his old-school westerns, and going to football games. His favorite team was Dallas Cowboys.

He enjoyed getting up and getting ready for church on Sunday mornings and was a member of Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, in Waldorf, MD.

Melvin relocated to Atlanta Georgia where he enjoyed the last six and half years of his life. He lived a happy retired life spending a lot of time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was so loved by family, friends, co-workers, and anyone else who entered his life. Melvin was the sweetest person that you’ll ever meet.

Melvin was proceeded in death by 3 brothers, Raymond, John Eugene and Joseph Blake.

He leaves to mourn his precious memories: his devoted companion, Rosalind Davis; his bonus family 2 daughters: Curtrice Murphy (Charles Posey) and Raven Goodwin (Wiley Battle); and 4 bonus grandchildren, Charles, Chance, Riley’Rosa, and RA’J.

He is also survived by siblings, Delores Ford-Craig, Kenneth Ford (Celestine), Minerva, Leon (Rose), Lawrence, William (Ernestine), Ricky (Sheena), Larry (Shirley), Diane (Michael), Regina, Donna, James, and Chuckie (Mary); special nephew, Rick Ford; special niece, Kim Blake-Walton; two godsons, William Blake and Marcus Belfield; two aunts, Ann Roberta Johnson and Margaret Inez Matthews; childhood friend, Francis ‘Flea’ Johnson; other nephews and nieces, cousins, and other relatives, and many friends.

Friends may visit with the family Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 10 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church, 100 Village St, Waldorf, MD 20602. Interment immediately to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
