Melissa Michelle Young (Age 43) of Malcolm, Maryland.
Melissa Michelle Young was born on March 25, 1969 in La Plata, Maryland. She was the youngest child of Wilbert "Leroy" Young and Cecelia Queen Young of Malcolm, Maryland.
She attended Charles County Public Schools, graduating from Thomas Stone High School in June of 1987. In September 1987 Melissa went to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C. as a Fingerprint Specialist. The division relocated to West Virginia, and as a result, Melissa moved to Fairmont, West Virginia to continue her employment with the Bureau. In 1996 she left the FBI and accepted a position as a Fingerprint Specialist with the Maryland State Police in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1997 a career change allowed her to move closer to home when she accepted a position as a Child Enforcement Agent with the Charles County Department of Social Services in La Plata, Maryland.
Never afraid of change and desiring to further her education, in 2005 she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she worked for Suntastia while attending Remington College in Clearwater, Florida. In April 2008, she graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. After graduating, Melissa moved back to Maryland and took a sabbatical until January 2010. She briefly worked for the Charles County Sheriffs Department. In February 2010 she was reemployed with the Charles County Department of Social Services in La Plata, Maryland where she remained until her death.
Melissa had a gift for making people laugh. She was an avid card
player and liked going to the casino. She also enjoyed watching The Wizard of Oz and cartoons. Melissa spent many weekends at cookouts with family and friends and her favorite meal was surf and turf dinners. She especially enjoyed spending time watching her children participate in sporting events.
Peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2012 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, Maryland, Melissa transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal.
In addition to her parents, Leroy and Cecelia, she is survived by
two children, Damian and Bryana; siblings, Kenny (Michelle), Joyce, Cyndee (Phillip), and Timmy (Jill); also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and fiancé, Charles Riley.
Her Viewing will be held from 9am until time of Service, 11am on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 3150 Middletown Road, Waldorf, Maryland.
Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, 13472 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, Maryland.
