Obituary
McKinley Sylvester Guess ("Bro" and "Mac"), son of the late Willie Mae Birdsall and Ernest Guess was born on May 20, 1939 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on February 28, 2017.
McKinley was educated in the public schools of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lucille Hunter Elementary School and J. W. Ligon High School.
He was united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart, Doris Ann Massey, right after graduation in 1959. McKinley became an entrepreneur, owning and operating several businesses in Washington DC, a movie theater (Highland) in southeast, a five and dime variety store in Mount Pleasant, and a record store, Music World, in Adelphi, Maryland.
He was caring and giving to his family and friends. Everyone knew if you wanted sound advice on how to get things done just call "Mac" or "Bro."
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Doris Ann Guess; his two sons, Christopher and McKinley Jr.; his loving daughter-in-law, Robin and Tracy Kirkpatrick; four granddaughters, Christina Ladson of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Natalie, Jenna and India of White Plains, Maryland; two great grandsons, Cameron Mathais and T. J. Ladson; his special girls, Loretta Hinton and Stephanie Becoat; two sisters, Lela Becoat and Patricia Booker of Raleigh, North Carolina; five nieces, Stephanie, Janice, Deirdre, Vanessa, and Jennifer; four nephews, Tommy, Reginald, Jimmy and Rufus Jr. of Raleigh, North Carolina.; and a host of friends and extended family.
Viewing, 10:00 am, until time of service, 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Fort Foote Baptist Church, 8310 Fort Foote Road, Fort Washington, Maryland 20744.
