Mazie's Journey to a Change of Address

Mazie Felicia Butler was born, Sunday, June 18, 1950 to John and Florine Butler.  Mazie received her education in Charles County Public Schools. She was employed as a House Supporter with Structures, a Southern Maryland Youth Home.

At an early age Mazie attended and was a devoted member of Shiloh Community United Methodist Church, Newburg, Maryland. She was an active member and served on various committees.

Mazie enjoyed listening to gospel music, fellowshipping at church and at her home. She especially enjoyed being in her yard. However, nothing brought her greater joy then her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She will be most remembered for her smile and the helping hand she was always willing to give.

On Monday, July 27, 2020 Mazie Felicia Butler, affectionately known as ''Momma, Grandma, Sister and Auntie'' suddenly changed her address while at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center, LaPlata, Maryland.

Mazie was preceded in death by her parents, son, Felix, longtime companion, Wallace Thomas and other relatives.

Left to cherish many fond memories are daughters, Florine Brawner "Dina" and Althea Proctor "Boo Boo" (Charles); son, Alvin (Doris); grandsons, KeShawn, Terrence, Alvin (Brianna), Tevin and Alo; sisters, Mary and Joyce; brothers, Russell and Robert (Thelma); sister-in-law, Hazel; special friends, Carlillie Hemsley, Shelva Washington, Lonnie and Loupe Yates; godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Viewing, 4:00 p.m. until time of Service, 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
