Remembering the Life & Legacy of Mattie Jean Cox-Greene  "Sweet Mattie"

Our beautiful (Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother) who's generosity and kindness, impacting everyone around her!

Mattie, 76 years young was born April 25th to Sir Lester & Novella Magnolia Acklin, in Greenville NC. Mattie who was called (MaMa) by the family was the Matriarch of the Cox Family! Mattie's unexpected passing was peacefully on 1/8/25 at home.

Spiritual Walk~
Mommy gave her life to Christ and was baptized at a very young age. She studied the Bible, spoked at Christian conferences and forums, and has evangelized!  Mattie was a previous member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church. Mattie relocated in 2007 were she later found and felled in loved with her current church, congregation, and Pastor at Grace United Methodist Sis Mattie sung in Chancel Choir and Sounds of Glory and performed in church theatrical productions. Church, of which she chairs the Congregational Care Ministry and co-chairs the Acolyte Ministry. As a certified Lay servant she brought messages of hope to Grace Angel Care.


Sister Mattie, severed as a liturgist for worship services and as the President of the United Methodist Women, now (United Women in Faith)
Family & Church were her two greatest passion. Mattie always had the ability to always make anyone smile. Loved and Respected by all who knew her!

Work Life~After receiving her High School diploma proudly, she attended and completed college with an Associates Degree. Mattie began her teaching career in Washington DC school district. as she soon received her Top Secret Clearance she began working for Department of Defense military base working as an Executive Officer and Analyst while at the Pentagon. Then as she was promoted to the intelligence community at the
Central Intelligence Agency National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency as well as the U.S. State Department in Virginia and in Bethesda MD
Were she earned outstanding and distinguished awards and recognition such as:

Meritorious
flag flown over Afghanistan in her name
the President's Award
Mattie happily retired after working
33 years and 7 months in the Federal Government.

Preceded by death her loving husband Henry Greene Jr. aka "PopPop"

Leaves behind in her Legacy her three loving daughters Pamela Franklin, Kenosha "Karyn" Cox and Terri Lucas by her first husband Randolph Cox, Grand children: Sir Douglas, Diamon' Shapre' twins- Shanic & Dominic, Kiara, Gorgio and a host of 14 great grand children.
She's survived by her elder only sister Bettha Lee Turker (aunt Bert) and a niece and nephew, and lots of cousins and a host of family friends.
