ROUNDTREE, MARY GRACE TRAVERS (AGE 80) OF INDIAN HEAD, MARYLAND.

Mary "Grace" Roundtree (affectionately known as Grace), was born in Indian Head, Maryland on December 30, 1930 to the late William F. "Billy" Travers, Sr. and the late Irene Brown Travers. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Forestville Heath and Rehabilitation Center in District Heights, Maryland.


Grace attended primary public schools in Charles County, Maryland and married Calvin Roundtree on January 9, 1954. She was employed at the Naval Ordnance Station until her retirement in 1981.

After retirement she worked at "Dukey's and Mattawoman Restaurant and Bar. She loved tending bar, listening to music and being surrounded by friends.

In addition to her parents, William F. "Billy" Travers, Sr. and Irene Travers, Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Roundtree, brothers, Robert Travers and William F. Travers, Jr. and niece, Lakisha Travers.

Grace leaves to cherish her memory, nephew, Eric L. Barnes; devoted friends, Paul "Mac" Washington and Barbara Thomas Powell; close friends, Rose "Bivens" Haywood, Tina Harris, Steve and Georgean Thompson and Tommy Holmes; devoted caregiver, Shirley Hamilton, as well as a host of cousins and friends.


Visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00am with Service immediately following at 11:00am on Thursday, April 28, 2011 in the Chapel at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Interment will be in Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Nanjemoy, Maryland.
