Mary Janice Proctor "Judy", of King George, VA transitioned June 1, 2025.

Mary Janice Proctor, also known as Judy to her family and friends, was born on November 20, 1942 in Washington, DC to Rosielee and William "Bubboy" Proctor.

Mary was raised in Oxon Hill, Maryland until the family relocated to the new home her father built for his family in Waldorf, Maryland.  She continued and completed her education in the Prince Georges County Public School System.  In 1960, she graduated from Fairmont Heights High School.  After graduation, she attended beauty school.

On June 16, 1962, Mary married her high school sweetheart, the late Rodney E. Carter (2016).    From this union, they had three daughters; Adair, Judith and Stephanie.  Initially they raised their girls in Washington, DC until relocating to Waldorf, Maryland in 1972.  They divorced in 1982.  In 1990, she was married to Norman Cole until 1992.

Along with being a stay at home mom, Mary worked in retail, Home Interior Sales, Real Estate, Bartending and Security.  She also did hair for family and friends from her home.  She was very sociable and enjoyed being with people.

Mary enjoyed traveling, doing Word Find puzzles, entering sweepstakes, watching old movies and smoking.

Mary gained her wings and transitioned on June 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Rosielee and William Proctor, eight brothers - William "Nace", Leon "Sonny", Joseph "Jack", James "Hot Dogg", Jacinto "Tinnie", Robert "Hooks", Michael, and Charles "Tubbie" Proctor; four Sisters – Blanche "Sis", Hilda Proctor, Rosielee Savoy and Pamela Proctor-Hawkins; Her and travel partners, Aunt Ida Butler and cousin Gloria Butler.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Adair Duckett, Judith Thomas and Stephanie Bagley; three bonus sons, William Thomas, Sr., Kevin Bagley and Wesley Duckett, four Granddaughters, LaQuacious Thomas, Candice Contee (Jerrod), Erica Bellamy and Destiny Jenson; Five Grandsons, William Thomas, Jr., Jarvis Duckett, D'Andre Jenson, Werten Bellamy III, and David Thomas; Six Great-grandchildren, Gavin, Savannah, Ethan, Chayce, Logan, and Kamiyah; Two Sisters, Carolyn Newman and Karen Proctor (Ralph "Bunzy") and one brother Henry Proctor "Bill".  She also leaves behind a host of loving family and long-time friends.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday, June 14th from 10am until time of funeral service at 11am in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment private.
