Obituary

Mary West (Williams) Porter, 79 of Clinton, Maryland.

Obituary

Mrs. Mary Porter was born December 10, 1939 to James and Margina Williams in Wallace, NC.   She attended Charity High School in Rose Hill North, Carolina.  Shortly thereafter, she married Fred Porter and moved to New York.  They were united in marriage for over 50 years. It was in New York she began to practice her faith as a Jehovah's Witness.  Her husband Fred Porter preceded her in death.

She worked in the medical field as a Health Care Aide, but mostly just loved being a housewife and a great big blessing to many.  Although she had no children, she was the oldest girl in the Williams' family and treated the younger siblings as though they were her children.  Mary was one of the kindest and loving people to everyone she encountered.  She had a passion for teaching, singing, and just loved to talk and be friendly with everyone.  She was a very polished lady and a very pretty woman that took pride in her appearance.

After her husband Fred passed away in 2000, she spent a few more years in New York until her health began to deteriorate.  She relocated to Clinton, MD around 2005.  Where she continued her faith as a Jehovah's Witness locally. She resided at Pineview Future Care and finally at Bradford Oaks Nursing Center since April 2012.

Early Monday morning, May 20, 2019, at the Bradford Oaks Nursing Home, Clinton, Maryland, Mary West (Williams) Porter peacefully transitioned to eternal life.

In addition to her parents and husband, her brother, Carl Williams, Wallace, NC, brother, James Edward Williams, NY; sister, Martha Williams, Washington, DC and HL Williams, Washington, DC, preceded her in death.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory:  Sisters, Rosa Ann Williams, Wallace NC; Rosa L. Dixon, Laurel, MD; Louise Gore, Wallace, NC; Emma Carroll, Clinton, MD; Janice Mathis, Teachey, NC; Catherine Carr, Washington, DC; Dorothy McNeill, Suitland, MD, and one Brother, Toney Williams, NJ and a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts that loved her dearly.
