Mary Eleanor Jones was born in Piscataway, MD on January 19, 1925. On January 31, 2026, she peacefully transitioned into eternal rest with her family at her side. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sadie Munson; husband, Harry B. Jones Sr.; daughters, Barbara Jones, Yvonne McEwen, and Belinda Jones; sisters, Margaret Munson, Susanna Johnson, Cora Medley, and Sarah Sandidge; and brothers, George Munson and John Munson.
Mary was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Piscataway MD. She served as a Lector and Sodality Member for many years. Her Catholic faith was a central part of her life—she found strength in the church, the sacraments, adoration, and prayers, often turning to God in quiet moments, with a special devotion to praying the Rosary.
Mary was very passionate about many things. She enjoyed learning and worked very hard to earn her high school equivalency diploma while she, along with her husband, raised seven children. By the time most of their children were teenagers, she decided to pursue a job outside the home—a testament to her quiet strength and determination. This led to a fulfilling career with Stanley Home Products, where she worked for many years as a Sales Representative. At the same time, Mary proudly dedicated her time and energy to community organizations such as the American Legion Auxiliary Post #170 and most notable, the Pride of Southern Maryland Elks Temple #651 where over the years she held positions as: Past Daughter Ruler, Past State President for Tri-State Association, and Past Grand Daughter Ruler.
Above all, Mary ’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—sitting on the carport in the sunshine, watching game shows, playing cards with her granddaughters, and enjoying family gatherings. Her gentle smile spoke more than words.
Mary’s memories will forever be cherished by her children: Sylvester Jones (Mary), Sandra Wilkins, Harry B. Jones Jr., Ronald Jones, and Mary A. Jones. She also leaves behind a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
