IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Alice
Jackson
February 10, 1955 – February 19, 2019
Mary Alice Jackson (Age 64) of Accokeek, Maryland.
Mary Alice Jackson departed this life suddenly Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at her home in Accokeek, Maryland surrounded by her loving children. "Mary Alice" as she was affectionately called, was born February 10, 1955. Mary was raised in Bethel, North Carolina and attended North Pitt Public Schools, in Greenville, North Carolina. After graduation, Mary moved to the Washington Metropolitan Area and began her career as a sales clerk at McBride's Department Stores. After working at McBride's for many years, she began a successful career as a civil servant, working for the United States Department of Agriculture as a Program Analyst until her retirement in 2014.
Mary Alice had a heart of gold, to know Mary was to love her! Those that knew her best knew that she loved her family and the Lord with her whole heart. Under the leadership of the late Reverend Moses L. Jackson, Mary accepted the gift of Salvation and served faithfully in several ministries at Beulah Baptist Church in North East, Washington, DC. She was a dedicated Missionary, Junior Choir and Praise Dance Ministry Adviser and member of the Senior Usher Board.
Upon moving to the Accokeek/Bryans Road, Maryland area, Mary continued to faithfully serve the Lord and she joined Macedonia Baptist Church. Missionary Mary Alice Jackson, affectionately known to Macedonia as "Sister Jackson" was a willing worker for Christ, until the time of her extended illness and death.
Sister Jackson served the Lord as Superintendent of Sunday Church School, President of the Missionary Ministry, Youth Director, and faithful member of the Women of Faith Ministry. She was a dedicated teacher, student, and volunteer for the Sunday School Union of Charles County and Vicinity and MBC Vacation Bible School. Sister Jackson literally volunteered and served in every Ministry or need at Macedonia. She was the lead and driving force for Safe Nights at Macedonia for several years and she implemented the Morning Breakfast after Sunday Church School for seniors and MBC members. There was nothing she wouldn't or couldn't do for the Lord or His people. Sister Jackson was compassionate and committed to the youth at Macedonia, in the neighborhood, and community. Her home was a safe haven for children. She loved everyone's child and they loved her.
In 1983, Mary Alice met the love of her life the late Johnnie R. Jackson, Sr. Mary and John were married for 35 years. To their union, Mary and John were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Alexis, Maggie, and Terra. Mary loved children, opening her home and heart to many throughout her life. She and John were also guardians and foster parents to Joseph, Kameron, Kaylin, and Khloe.
Mary Alice was fun, energetic, and full of life. Even after Mary's stroke, she still found strength, laughter, and comfort in the presence of the family she loved so dearly. We will all miss Mary's presence in her home, in church, and especially in the kitchen. She was truly the life of every gathering and was known for her fried chicken, collard greens, barbeque pigtails, and most of all, sweet potato pies. When she wasn't cooking, busy with one of her children, or active in a church activity, Mary loved to relax at home with John, either watching Westerns or her favorite soap opera the Young and the Restless .
Mary Alice was ALWAYS there when you needed her. She was a rock and pillar of her family, the cornerstone upon which our unwavering love for her and each other will continue to grow.
