On Saturday, February 19, 2022 Mary Elizabeth Fenwick departed this life at Charles County Hospice House in Waldorf, Maryland following a brief illness.
Mary E. Fenwick, affectionately known as "Libby" was born on December 15, 1946 in Baltimore, MD the fourth child of eight to the late Margaret Doris and James E. Butler. She attended the Charles County Public School System. She worked as a House Keeper at the Charles County Nursing Facility for fifteen years and switch to the Holiday in for twenty more years. Libby loved dancing, playing cards and Bingo. Her favorite songs were "check to check" and "whole in the wall." When those two songs came on, Libby, Geneva and Marie would jump up and stump a whole in the carpet.
She loved family gatherings especially dancing and playing cards. She swore up and down that her and Larry was the best spade player in Charles County. Libby also loved to watch her favorite TV show, "The Family Feud, Steve Harvey". That show would come on Back to back and all you heard was Steve Harvey. Let's not forget about the "RedSkins" or the "Washington team" or the "Commanders" football team as she cheered them on with her husband.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard (Larry) Fenwick; Sister, Mary (Geneva) Briscoe; three brothers Joseph (Morris) Briscoe, James Johnson and James E. Butler Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Doris Ann Fenwick and Mary Delores Brawner; brothers-in-Law, William Brawner "Cowboy," James (Alex) Ford Sr., Edward, Harold, Johnnie, Lawrence, Mack Fenwick.
She leaves to cherish her daughter Jacqueline Marie Douglas (William) two grandsons Charles "Junior" (Kiara) and Anthony Hurd (Shanice); granddaughter Shawntrez "Wee Wee" Douglas; two great grandsons Jeremiah and Amari Hurd; great granddaughter Amirah Hurd; two sisters, Margaret "Jean" Davis (John), Margaret "Rainey" Ford; brother, Clarence Butler; two Brother-in-laws William Collins and John Henry Davis Sr. ; three sister-in-laws Sarah Collins, Lucille Hicks, Theresa "Ethel" Fenwick; two godsons, David Fenwick, Jermawn "Ty" Ford, Sr.; goddaughter, Natasha Briscoe and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. special friend throughout her school years to the present, Mary Jackson Reeves.
Her viewing will be held from 9:00am until 10:00am, on Monday, March 7, 2022, Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pomfret, Maryland. Interment Church Cemetery.
