IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Farmer
May 26, 1957 – July 14, 2021
MARY ANN FARMER (AGE 64) OF WALDORF, MARYLAND.
On Wednesday July 14, 2021, God called one of his angels home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mary Ann quietly and peacefully departed this life at her home in Waldorf, Maryland with family and friends by her side.
Mary Ann was born on May 26, 1957, to the late James Vincent and Mary Isabel Farmer. She was the second oldest of five children. Mary Ann was a lifelong resident of Charles County, Maryland. She was educated in the Charles County Public School System graduating from La Plata High School in 1975. After graduating high school, she was employed by Murray's Grocery Store and Chesapeake Seafood Restaurant. She was later employed by the Charles County Board of Education as a print shop technician, retiring after 37 years. Mary Ann loved dancing, staying busy, working in the yard, cleaning her cars (we all know she loved her cars), decorating her house, being a beautician for friends and family, working as a personal accountant preparing taxes, and preparing forms and paperwork for those who were unable to do so to receive disability, social security, or a place to live. She was a member of The Black Hawks Drill Team of Newburg, MD, a cheerleader for the Black Hawks Men's Basketball Team. Her mom made her attend Charm School for Girls, but…we all know at times that didn't work (lol) because she would tell you just what was on her mind and did not bite her tongue for anyone.
Mary Ann had a heart of gold; she would do anything for anyone. She would give you her last meal or her last dollar. She would always say "Whatever I can do for you, let me know!" and she did just that always loaning or giving money to anyone in need. Along with everything else, she was a caregiver, taking care of her lifelong friend Wendell Chapman after his accident in 1998 up until the day she was too sick to do so.
Mary Ann was the true definition of a fighter. She was first diagnosed with cancer in 2004, which went into remission until 2015 when she was then diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Mary Ann believed in the Lord; she would always say "I'm not going to worry because God got me", "If anyone in the family was to get cancer, I'd rather it be me", always thinking of everyone else and putting them first. If you ever asked her how she was doing she would say "Everything is going to be alright" and "I'm good."
Mary Ann loved her only son Brian with all her heart, making sure he had everything and wanted for nothing. She would always say "Brian doesn't ask for much". She always talked about her nieces and nephews, asking them if there was anything they needed or wanted. She loved each and every one of them dearly. She would always say "I love my niece Imani to death because if it wasn't for her contacting The Cancer Treatment Centers of America I wouldn't be here today."
She loved family gatherings, playing games with her great-niece Naomi, lottery numbers, scratch offs, and face time calls on her phone. Mary Ann also enjoyed picking up her great-niece Skyla and adopted granddaughter Harmony to spend quality time with them. Another joy of hers was having her brother Allen cook for her, bringing her food whenever she asked. She always talked about her first trip to Chicago with her cousin Evelyn Farmer to The Cancer Treatment Centers of America and all the fun they had out there for almost a month. She always said Evelyn, Virgie, and Carla would call her everyday sometimes 1-3 times daily to check on her, bring her food, or take her for a ride just to get out the house. She always said, "I thank God for my niece Imani and nephews Delvon and Ronnie for always being there and doing anything I need".
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents James Vincent and Mary Isabel Farmer. Her baby brother Kerry Lee Farmer. Grandparents Theodore and Margaret Fenwick, Joseph Vincent and Naomi Farmer. Her uncles James Leroy, John Edward, Joseph Melvin, Thomas Farmer, Richard Swann, and Joseph Hicks. Half-sisters June Brown and Shirley Simms.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her memories her one and only son Brian Anthony, two brothers James Allen, Thomas Donnell (Stephanie), one sister Sharon Louise (Lionel), two half-brothers Vincent Farmer, Elroy Hawkins, and two half-sisters Joyce Berry and Sonya Carter. Three uncles James Arthur, Daniel (Sharon) and Tim Hicks. Three aunts Laura Swann, Ann Lee, and Jackie Swann. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other devoted family, and friends.
