IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Frances
Curtis
July 26, 1936 – August 25, 2022
Curtis, Mary Frances (Age 86) of Washington, DC
M ary Frances Curtis was born to the late Pearl Miles on July 26, 1936, in Chaptico, Maryland. Mary transitioned from her earthly life and entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
She was preceded in death by two brothers that she loved dearly: Robert "Bobby" Miles and Lewis "Eddie" Miles.
A ffectionately known as Ms. Frances, MaFrances, and even Cheryl to some, Mary received her formal education in Budd's Creek, Maryland. Mary was devoted to her family and friends and was blessed with one son: William "Buster" Miles, whom she adored. In addition to her son, she was exceptionally delighted to gain a "daughter in love", Lois, who stood by her side until the end. Mary served as an inspiration to many with her quiet spirit and beautiful soul. She loved God and accepted Him as her personal Savior and confidant at an early age. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Washington, DC where she served as a member of the Daughters of Isabella, an organization founded on the principals of unity, friendship, and charity. Mary was also a member of the St. Luke Sodality, and she could often be found communing with Christ through the recitation of the Rosary prayer. Her love for family and friends exemplified her faith and spoke volumes for the life she lived.
R eceiving many accolades for customer service, Mary enjoyed a 42-year career at CVS (formerly known as People's Drug Store) before retiring. You could always count on her to greet you with a smile as she was passionate and dedicated to serving the community. Mary always opened her arms, heart, and home to lend a helping hand. Although soft-spoken, her hugs and words of encouragement would make you feel good as she had a genuine love for each person that she touched especially her grandchildren. Mary was an avid reader. In her spare time, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading novels. She delighted in playing Pokeno with the ladies of St. Luke's "Over 50 Pokeno Club" and hanging with the Golden Girls of 28 th Street: Louvina (Lu), Diana, and Carolyn. Mary had a keen sense for fashion and was always well dressed as she accessorized every ensemble with her fashionable clip-on earrings before she walked out of the door.
Y earning her love and presence, Mary leaves to cherish her memories: her son: William Miles (Lois); Sisters in law: Louvina Miles, Barbara Miles-Williams; Grandchildren: Tiffane Golson (Ibrahim), Naisha Dinkins (Larry); Great Grandchildren: Cole, Troy, Christian, Jordan; Great-Great Grandchild: Joi, Godchildren: Lorraine Miller and Brenda Baker; Beloved Cousin: Rita Miller; Nieces: Tama, Karen, Sharon, Crystal and Sharlene; Nephew: Kevin, and a host of other relatives and friends.
