Mary Madeline Butler Chase 79 of Waldorf, Maryland formally of Bryans Road, Maryland died May 27, 2003 at Civista Medical Center, LaPlata, Maryland. She was a member of the St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Indian Head, Maryland.

Born on May 28, 1923 in Waldorf, she was the daughter of the late Nettie Ann Brawner Butler and James Edward Butler.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, and was an avid Washington Redskin and Michael Jordan fan.

She is survived by her children, four sons- James Butler, Thomas Jerome Chase Jr. (Abdul Aatif Haziq Fareed), William Chase, David L. Chase; two daughters- Dorothy Washington, Marie Gordon; two daughters-in-law- Hannah Butler and Sheila Chase; one son-in-law- James Washington; two brothers- Ed Butler and George Butler; three sisters-in-law- Mary E. Butler, Lucille Butler, Margaret D. Butler; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Jerome Chase Sr., five brothers- Charles, Leo, Francis, John, Thomas Butler, four sisters- Helen Wright, Catherine Brawner, Ella Brawner, and Pearline Washington.

Pallbearers: Travis Washington, Clement Washington, David Proctor, Timothy Chase, Derek Proctor, Kevin Chase. Honorary Pallbearers: Michael Gordon and Michael Barnes

Viewing Monday, June 2, 2003 10:30a.m. until time of mass 11:30a.m. at St. Jospeh?s Catholic Church, Pomfret, Maryland. Interment Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Thornton Funeral Home P.A., Pomonkey, Maryland.
