IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Jane
Butler
October 16, 1951 – August 11, 2025
Mary Jane Butler, 73 of Forestville, Maryland.
Mary Jane Butler was born, October 16, 1951. The daughter of the late John Walter and Mary Lucille Thompson departed this life on Monday, August 11, 2025. She was the fifth of eleven children.
Mary Jane received her early education in the Charles County Public School System in Waldorf, Maryland. In June of 1970, she married her high school sweetheart the late Robert Raymond Butler, Jr. They were blessed with one son, James "Robby" Butler. Mary Jane loved being a wife and a mother. She loved to care for her family, cooking, cleaning, shopping and preparing meals for them. She was deeply affectionate and attentive to their needs. Mary Jane was extremely naturing of her son, Robby, making sure he had everything he needed. Her love for him was unconditional and unwavering.
Mary Jane had a love and care for animals. She became a dog groomer for Adventure Acres Kennel of Forestville, Maryland and worked there for many years. Not only did she have a heart for animals but for people in general. She always greeted people with hello and a smile. She was very down-to-earth and somewhat outspoken. She could be charismatic and make you laugh by her blunt statements.
Mary Jane enjoyed spending time with family. Especially, going out shopping with her sister, Cozette. They would stay out all day shopping for arts and crafts and Lord forbid if they went into a Walmart. It would be hours passed before they came out, purchasing something for just about everyone!
In her past time, Mary Jane did crossword puzzles. She became swift in her search for words. She could complete one crossword puzzle book in less than a day. She also loved her game show and didn't want to be interrupted while watching them, especially, the show, "Let's Make a Deal." Mary Jane was a "movie buff," she had a love for Tyler Perry and all his movies. On any given day you could her replaying his movies over-and-over again, having something to eat and her favorite drink, Pepsi Cola beside her.
Her family have many fond memories they will always cherish to include her laughter and kind spirit. Mary Jane leaves to cherish her memory, one loving and devoted son, James "Robby" Butler; one brother and two sisters, James Herman (Poogie) Thompson, Louise Regina Proctor, and Mary Delores Ford; two sisters and five brothers, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Garland, Theresa Capers (Cozette), Bobby, Buster, Gene, Ernest and Jerome preceded her in death; also left to cherish fond memories are a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
