Obituary

Mary Olivia (AKA Leebre) was born on July 31, 1954 to the late Roy Michael Brown, Sr. and Marjorie Johnson Brown of Indian Head Maryland. She was the fifth child of seven children; five sisters and one brother.

She was educated in the Charles County Public Schools and graduated from Lackey High School. She was employed with the Federal Government at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head, Maryland where she retired after 20+ years of dedicated service. She was a devoted member of Woodland Village Baptist church for many years under the leadership of the late Rev. Yancy Warren before moving her membership to Unity of Love Praise Temple Church in Washington DC under the leadership of the late Bishop James and Elder Miriam Bell. God placed her in the position of servant and there was no job too big or too small that she would not do. She would say what she meant and meant what she said. She was not one to sugar coat anything. It was at Unity of Love where she met the love of her life Clayton E. Scott, Sr. and they were married on June 17, 2006. The Scotts have been faithfully serving together at Experiencing Life In Christ Ministries from its inception in January 2011, under the leadership of Pastors Daniel and Ethel Holton; affiliated with Manna from On High Ministries, under Bishop Arthur and Elder Betty Brown.

Ms. Mary loved the Lord with all her heart, and it showed by the life she lived. She had a very giving spirit. If you needed her for anything, she was always happy and willing to lend a helping hand. She also had a strong work ethic. She never hesitated to give direction or guidance on how a situation should be handled. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, godmother, friend, and most of all a woman of God. She thoroughly enjoyed praising the Lord, fellowshipping with the saints; as well as her hobbies. Some of her favorite pastimes included getting her nails done, working puzzles, watching Perry Mason, and the game shows; Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. In March 2017 she was diagnosed with cancer, but she did not lose hope. She made the decision immediately to fight. Throughout her illness her love for the Lord did not diminish.

On January 12, 2020 Mary entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She fought the good fight, and she kept the faith. She has earned her wings!! Mary was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Marjorie Brown and Christine Thompson (a cousin/sister).

Mary leaves to cherish her memory; her loving husband, Clayton E. Scott, Sr.; five sisters: Margaret Bivens, Betty Moreaux, Ethel Holton      (Daniel, Sr.), Dianna Brown, Theresa Phillips (Donahue); one brother, Pastor Roy Brown, Jr. (Violet); sisters-in-law, Lois White and Marie Scott; brothers-in-law, Joseph Scott, Major Scott and Moses Scott; Also to cherish her memories are her stepchildren, Gwendolyn, Karen, Clayton Jr., Carla, Nicole, Tomeka, Tasha, Jerome, Meredith, Mary, Pauline and Rephael; a very special aunt, Ruth Barnes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
