Obituary

Johnson, Martha Ruth, 80 of Bladensburg, Maryland.

Martha Ruth Green-Johnson was born in Washington, DC to the late Joseph Green and Martha Ada Peak-Green. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Doctor's Hospital in Lanham, MD.

Martha was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools. She began working for the Federal Government and retired after 25 years of Service.   Later, she worked for LockHeed Martin as a Contractor until her husband Russell became ill.

Martha married Russell in April 1966, and from this union were four children, Lisa, Lesley, Lynne and Russell Jr.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her new life as a Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She would be able to tell you all the Grandchildren Birthday's, the fun and happy moments – especially around the holidays, and how to spell their name correctly.

Martha enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with Russell.  She loved going to see him play his saxophone (let her tell it, he was the best – no one plays better than my Man).  In the summertime, she couldn't wait to buy a bushel of crabs and listen to her music (she could shake a tail feather, lol – her side kick, Ms. Ellen). She was able to dance through 3 records and just laugh about it. She also love being with her daughter's - eating out, going to the movies, shopping and doing sip-n-paints. Let's not forget her own Golden Girls Club at Parkview in Bladensburg where she resided along with her side-kick Pamela Day, Angie and Rene.

Martha was proceeded in death by her husband, Russell Sr., oldest son, Michael T. Green, Mother-in-Law Mary G. Mack, Mother Martha Ada Peak-Green, Father Joseph Green, Sister Barbara Green and three brothers: Joseph, Jr., Ronald and Donald Green.

Martha leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children Mitchell A. Green, Lisa Johnson, Lesley Whitmire (Andre, Sr.), Lynne David (Paul) and Russell Jr.  Loving grandchildren, La'Shelle, La'Keida, LeeAnder, Lauren, LaQuita, Latoya, Lisa Jr., Andre Jr., LaRecca, Calvin Jr., and LaQuannea. Sixteen great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Brothers: Steven Green and Lonelle Green. Sisters: Delores Garris, Charlene Green and Mary McGee and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
