Thompson, Mark Anthony (Age 45) of Capital Heights, MD
Mark "Markie" Anthony Thompson peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Southern Maryland Hospital. He was born August 13, 1969, in Washington, D.C., to John Melvin Thompson and Edna Mae Harley Thompson.
Mark received his education in the Charles County public school system and graduated from Lackey High School in 1987. He was employed for ten years by DESIGN SURFACES as a carpenter and recently retired due to his health. Mark was an easy going, selfless, clown who loved to laugh. His words of wisdom were "Life is too short not to be happy," and he was known as the life of the party.
Markie was always willing to give, even when he didn't have it. If you needed it and he had it, he would gladly give it to you. One of his talents was drawing and he greatly enjoyed sharing his art work. Some of the things that interested him most were cooking (he could bake as well and often did so for the other patients who attended the Clinic with him), listening to Gospel and R&B music, fashion, model cars, movies and drawing cartoons for his nieces and nephews. Mark also loved to travel and spent some time in Florida and Ocean City. He was most proud of the burgundy Cavalier he purchased which was later involved in an accident. Family functions were very special to Mark. Recently, in June 2014, he sacrificed his time, money and even health to attend his nephew's wedding. Those who had the greatest influence on his life were his older brothers and sisters. He was truly a selfless person who also cared about Sickle Cell research.
Mark was preceded in death by sister, Patricia Thompson, brother, Vincent Thompson and his grandparents.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his parents, John and Edna Thompson, sisters, Mary Williamson, Penny Randolph and Carolyn Thompson; brothers, John Thompson, Jr., David Thompson, James Thompson, William Thompson, Tony Thompson and Harry Thompson; sister-in-law, Tammy Thompson; brothers-in-law, Todd Randolph and Mark Williamson; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of family and friends.
