Obituary

Marion Elizabeth Ware, 68, of Accokeek, Maryland.

Born Monday, January 25, 1954, Marion Elizabeth Allen was the third of six children born to William and Mary Allen, Sr. Growing up she was a rambunctious and talkative child, always the center of attention. She matriculated through Prince George's County Public Schools attending Accokeek Elementary, Eugene Burroughs Middle School and ultimately graduating from Friendly Senior High School in the first graduating class of 1972. Immediately after graduation, Marion entered the federal government as a civil servant, primarily working for the Department of the Army where she worked until she retired over 30 years later.

Peaches, as she was affectionately known was an extremely gift woman. She was great with her hands and had a knack for seeing something and reproducing it with ease, especially hairstyles. While never formally trained she was the family hairdresser. She was her 3 children's first barber/hairstylist. Whenever a new hair trend was coming out, she tested the look on Kelli. Every Saturday morning for many years she had a line of people waiting to get their hair done in her kitchen. She was the queen of Jheri Curlsand was the person everyone came to for that style. When everyone else was wearing their curls in an afro, Marion cut her clients' curls into styles such as a bob, a-symmetric, and pixie cuts. In addition to being a talented hair stylist, she was an amazing artist. She could look at a picture and with a pencil, draw a life-like replica.

One thing about Marion Ware, she was going to live and enjoy life to the fullest. She loved music and entertaining at her home, having friends over for all types of parties especially card parties. Her and El, (her then husband) were the dynamic duo on the bid whist table. There were many weekends she'd have Tina Marie or Luther Vandross playing on the stereo, good food in the kitchen and lots of family and friends over. You could smell fragrance of Opium incense burning and hear the shuffling of a deck of cards amidst loud talking and lots of laughter. She had a way of making people feel at ease and at home. If she wasn't at home, she was traveling. One of her favorite places to visit was the Virgin Islands.

Peaches was also a trendsetter and admired by so many. Always ahead of the latest fashion, she was known to always be well put together; matching from head to toe and not a single hair was ever out of place. She rode in style, and you knew she was coming when you heard the engine of her money green Saab 900 turbo. She had to have the very best of everything and she worked hard to obtain it. While she kept a full-time job, Peaches was also entrepreneurial. If she wasn't doing hair, she was having a yard sale or doing some other type of business. She always had a way of making extra money.

Marion was a free spirit and marched unapologetically to the beat of her own drum. She had a heart of gold and would always be there to lend a helping hand to anyone that called upon her. She was also opinionated & honest and wasn't afraid to speak her mind. Her infectious laugh and million-dollar smile will be truly missed.

Marion was preceded in death by her father William Allen, Sr., brothers William Allen, Jr. and Robert Allen, and her only sister Sheila Washington. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Mary E. Allen, her 3 children Diveto (Adrienetta) Allen, James Allenand Kelli Ware, her 7 grandchildren; Jameela, Daniela, Dominique "Jazzy," Izayle, Christopher, Nosazeme "Zeemo" and Djula, 2 brothers Sylvester Allen and Charles Allen, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
