Marilyn Virginia Makle, age 76 of Pomfret, Maryland.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Genesis Waldorf Center Nursing Home, Marilyn Makle peacefully transitioned to eternal rest.

On Tuesday June 3, 2025, Marilyn V. Makle affectionately known as "Cookie" departed this life into eternal rest.

Marilyn was born August 4, 1948 in Charles County Maryland.  She was a life resident of Charles County and was educated in the Charles County Public School system. Marilyn met and dated William Makle for years and they married on April 28, 1990.  Through their union they had 3 daughters.

Marilyn worked for the Charles County Board of Education for several years before deciding to become a homemaker and raising her children.  Marilyn later returned to the workforce in the hotel industry, working as a housekeeper for several hotels in Charles County before retiring.   During her retirement Marilyn loved to read her books during the day and several nights during the week she loved her Bingo.

Marilyn came from a large family and was one of 11 children.  She is preceded in death by her parents George Samuel Estep, Sr and Glydon Burnette Estep, husband William H, Makle, her sisters Helene Brawner, Ann Marie, Sharon, and Linda Estep.  She leaves to cherish her memory 3 daughters, Dawn F Duckett, Brandi J Estep, Kandi S Estep, a special adopted daughter Mashawn Smith, and her bonus daughter Antonia Brown, 4 grandsons, Juwhan and Jervon Smith, Jeremy Williams, Jr and Branden E Estep, one Great Grand Daughter Journey Smith, as well as 2 son –in-laws Russell E Duckett and Jerome A Smith, Sr..  Her brothers George "Sam" Estep Jr, Edwin "Mutt" Estep, Jerome "Jerry" Estep and Earl Estep, and sisters Ellen "Rennie" Hawkins and Sheila Estep-Andrews, and a host of nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends.

Her Viewing will be 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:30 am, Tuesday, June 17, 2025 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.

Interment, Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:30 am, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
