Margie Jeanette Colbert, 72 of Fort Washington, Maryland.

Life Reflection

Margie Jeanette Colbert daughter of Earl and Florence Colbert was born October 9, 1946 in Chapel Hill, Maryland.  On May 27, 2019, Margie received her call from God to come home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Margie received her education in PG County Public Schools. In her early career, she held various public service jobs before 30 Years of dedicated service to the Prince George's County Board of Education until her retirement in 2007.

Margie loved sewing!  She made life around her sparkle with sewing clothes, curtains, and beautifully made pillows.  She would always say " Beautiful things come together one stitch at a time" .  She worked diligently crafting baskets, holiday wreaths, and creative arts and crafts for friends and family. She loved to dance and at family gatherings, you could always find Margie on the dance floor dancing to a good "Chuck Brown" tune.

While we all knew and loved Margie, what we will cherish and long remember is her beautiful smile that lit up the room.  She was "Aunt Margie" to her nieces and nephews and "Flo" to countless friends and family.

Her life was enriched and made whole by her life mate "Mike Butler" who shared 40 years of devoted and cherished memories filled with trips, social outings, family gatherings and good conversations.

It's impossible to capture in words what Margie's life meant to us, so we ask each of you to remember Margie in your own special way and to always keep her love for life in your heart.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Florence Colbert, sister, Earline Coleman, brother, Gary Colbert and niece, Valiska "Booboo" Coleman.  Left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are three children, Denise Colbert, Bryant Colbert and Marvette Lewis, two sisters, Gloria Mae Swann (Elmer), and Lisa West (Clyde); one brother, Kerry Colbert (Kay); beloved lifelong companion, Mike Butler; a special friend and caregiver Denise Butler; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
