Margie Ellen (Adams) Posey, 85 of Landover, Maryland formerly of Indian Head, Maryland.
On Friday, April 24, 2020, Margie Adams Posey (Age 85), formerly of Indian Head, Maryland, quietly transitioned to eternal life at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. Margie was born and raised in Malcolm, Maryland to John Francis and Mary Inez McPherson Adams. She was educated in Malcolm Elementary School, Pomonkey Middle and High School, Bowie State Teacher's University, University of Maryland, American University, George Washington University, and Catholic University.
She was a retired teacher. She was in the school systems in Charles and Prince George's counties for 40+ years. Margie was married to Bertram Theodore Posey (Teddy, Bert) for 55 ½ wonderful years and lived in Indian Head, Maryland. They have 4 children, Alonzo (Lonnie), Colette, Carlezsa (Lisa), Avery, 1 daughter-in-law: Cynthia (Cyndy), 1 son-in-law Joseph (Joe), 8 grandchildren, Avery Jr. (AJ), Kristen, Devin, Elise, Simone, Jalisa, Nicholas, Nevaeh, and 5 great grandchildren, Landon, Railynn, Shaune (Biscuit), Paris, and Theodore Nicolas (Nico). Teddy passed away on September 25, 2012.
Margie was in Shaklee (a health and wellness company) for over 38 years. She and Teddy loved the products, the people and especially the trips in the country and abroad. The cruises were great too.
Margie was on the Indian Head Town Council for 20 years as council woman and then Vice Mayor. She was on the town activities committee for 27 years. She especially enjoyed planning and working the activities for the children. She was awarded the Academy for Excellence in Social Governance by the Maryland Municipal League at the University of Maryland in College Park.
Margie belonged to several clubs. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame for Charles County Commission for Women because she had given outstanding service which benefited the health and welfare of women and families in the county. She was also inducted into the Senior Citizen Hall of fame at an awards luncheon in Glen Burnie as the Charles County Women's Club Honoree.
Margie's passion was participating in line dancing activities. At 85 years old, she continued to dance with two different line dance organizations.
Margie leaves behind two sisters: Alice Waters and Clara Mae Thomas, one brother: Frances Adams, one sister-in-law: Gladys and Florence Adams, two brothers-in-law: George Thomas and Oswald Jordan. Siblings preceding her in death are Annie Adams, Mary Elizabeth Countiss, Mary Magdeline Jordan, John Adams, and Edward Adams. Margie had many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Viewing will be held at Thornton Funeral Home, PA, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640 on Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A private interment and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
