King, Margaret Estelle Gladden (Age 81) of Accokeek, Maryland.
On September 6, 2012, Margaret Estelle King was called home by God's Angels after a brief illness.
Estelle as she was affectionately known was born on March 19, 1931 in Accokeek, Maryland to the late Maggie Munson-Gladden and John Gladden. She had six brothers and sisters: Frances, Thomas, Raphel, Elmer, Sympronia and Elizabeth.
Estelle attended and graduated from the Prince George's Public School System. In later years she was employed with the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland as an Inspector. However, her greatest calling was one of mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.
Estelle was a devoted lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clinton, Maryland and took every opportunity to enjoy her life. She attended the Senior Center faithfully on Tuesdays and Fridays. Some of her favorite past times included Bingo, playing cards, cooking and baking. She was especially famous for her lemon pound cake and won numerous awards and medals for her selection of cakes.
Estelle loved family gatherings in which she would spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and other good home folks. She will always be remembered for her wisdom, laughter, words of encouragement and of course her kind and giving spirit.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Vincent King and grandson, Sean Michael Butler.
She leaves to cherish her memories seven children: Octavia (Wallace), Harold (Patsy), Michael (Crystaline), D'Borah (James), Daryl (Shelia), Janice, Michelle (George) and CJ Garris (adopted son); ten grandchildren: Ronnel Pye, LaTiffany Washington, James Hart lll, Shawnta Washington Coble, LaShana King, Brandon Hart, Gaston King, Shannon Washington, Camarin King and Daryl King, Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren; niece, Lillian Dyson; nephew, Thomas Gladden; four sisters-in-law: Dorothy (Ferrell) King, Delores Johnson, Eleanor Tarvers and Marion Jarmon and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her Viewing will be held from 8:30am until 10:00am on Thursday, September 13, 2012 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Piscataway, 13401 Piscataway Road, Clinton, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery.
