June 12, 1931 – May 22, 2021
Margaret Trevor (Bransome) Connelly, 89 of Fort Washington, Maryland.
Obituary
Margaret Trevor Connelly (Bransome), of Fort Washington, Maryland departed this life on May 22, 2021, at her daughter's home after an extended illness. Margaret was born in Charles County, Maryland on June 12, 1931 to the late John Alfred Bransome and Elizabeth Cecilia Locks Bransome. She married Leon Neal Connelly, and raised their children, Neal, Steven and Diane in Bryans Road, Maryland, and in the Metropolitan United Methodist Church.
Margaret grew up in Bryans Road, Maryland and was educated in the Charles County Public School system where she graduated from Pomonkey High School. Upon completion of high school, Margaret attended the Princess Anne College (now University of Maryland Eastern Shore). She was a member of the Pomonkey High School Alumni Association.
Margaret was an active member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church. As part of the church family, she sang in the choir and in later years became a volunteer with the SHARE Food program when it came to Metropolitan, served as a Greeter and as a Communion Steward until her retirement. As part of a social group, V-II Social Club, which included other church members, she became very active in the community. The club awarded scholarships and prepared Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for families in the community.
Margaret worked as a dietician at St. Elizabeths Mental Hospital in Washington, DC. After retiring from St. Elizabeths Hospital, she continued to work in food service at Blackie's House of Beef in Springfield, Virginia and at Surrattsville High School in Prince George's County.
She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, engaging in backyard barbeques, family gatherings, holiday gatherings and birthday dinners/celebrations. She loved traveling, especially to her annual trip to Cape May, New Jersey. Her favorite past time was sewing. You may have seen some of her creations worn by her daughter and her sister-in-law, at many of the functions they attended together. She was an avid Redskins (Washington Football Team) fan and Nationals (formally Senators, where she seldom missed Opening Day) baseball fan. Always smiling, she taught her children and friends the true meaning of hospitality.
Margaret leaves behind to cherish her memories her children, Neal (Freda), Steven (Paulette) and Diane (Arthur); her grandsons, Darrel, Sean, Anthony, Paul and Timothy; sister-in-law Joan Bransome; sister-in-law Gloria Jefferson; brother-in-law Leroy Connelly; several great-granddaughters and great-grandsons; and great-great granddaughters; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, two goddaughters and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her brothers, James Kenneth Bransome and Edward John Bransome, and her sister, Cecilia Davis.
