IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcia Allene
Branch Pettiford
March 21, 1955 – November 23, 2020
BRANCH PETTIFORD, MARCIA A. (AGE 65) OF DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MARYLAND
On Monday, March 21, 1955 Marcia Allene Branch was born with her twin brother, Michael "Mike" Branch (deceased) at DC General Hospital in southeast Washington, DC , to Elsie Mae Branch (deceased) and George Trower. Due to her petite size , Marcia was affectionately called Mousey. She grew up on C street, SE in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and graduated from Eastern High School.
In 1970 Marcia was blessed with the birth of her first son, Mark Branch. In 1980 she married Thomas "Tommy"Pettiford, Sr. (deceased), and out of this union came the birth of her daughter, Zakkiyya "KiKi" Pettiford and youngest son, Thomas"TJ" Pettiford, Jr.
Marcia gained employment and customer service skills at Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone company (C&P). Over the years she excelled at other jobs due to her dedication, outgoing personality and passion for serving others. In 2020, she retired from Peapod by Giant Corporation where she enjoyed her daily duties and meeting new people, who became friends.
Marcia believed Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior. She would confirm her belief by proclaiming to everyone, "I'm blessed by the best." In 2019, she joined the fellowship of Victory Christian Ministries of Charles County (VCMICC) under the spiritual leadership of Pastors Demond and Portia Taylor. She could be seen in joyfully singing along with praise and worship, going up for prayer or responding in true Marcia fashion, "I know that's right."
Throughout her vibrant life, Marcia was authentic in word and deed. She loved being with family and would almost always be seen in-tow with her beloved twin brother Mike or with her lifelong friends affectionately known as the "C Street" crew. You could count on her showing up for you, and being the life of the party. She treasured friendship; never missing sending out a routine text and call to "just check in". Marcia enjoyed dressing up, good music, dancing, watching reality TV, games and talk shows, as well as taking road trips to visit family out of state. She never met a stranger; always being friendly to anyone she encountered.
On Monday, November 23, 2020 at Georgetown Hospital, surrounded with tender love and care, Marcia transitioned peacefully from earth to her eternal resting place. She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents George and Gertrude Trower; children, Mark (Terri), Zakkiyya, and Thomas (Antwanette); two sisters, Regina Branch-Curtis and Angela Trower, a brother, Craig Trower (Latonya); four step-brothers, Calvin, Frankie, Jerry, and Wendell Kinney; one uncle, Wesley Branch (Carlene), two aunts, Virginia Holmes and Flora Harrod; grandchildren, Deandre, Deja, Malcolm, Jaylin, Kennedy, Tyler, Amerie, Akaria and Thomas Antwan.
