Obituary

Malcolm Lee "Skippy" Washington departed this life and entered a life of eternal peace on November 5, 2023 at 3:12AM. He gained his heavenly wings at Rice Estates in Columbia, SC. He was born May 28, 1946 to Lottie Washington and Thomas R. Woodson (deceased).

Malcolm graduated from Maggie Walker High School in 1964. During high school, Malcolm had a son, Eric Washington (deceased). After graduation, Malcolm enlisted in the US Army where he met and married his first wife Evelyn White. Malcolm and Evelyn had been married for 10 years and shared two children. Malcolm served in the US Army 14 years 2 months as a Military Police Officer and 15 years 2 months as an Indirect Fire Infantryman. During his years of service, Malcolm received several decorations, medals, and badges: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Overseas Service Bars (5), Good Conduct Medal 3d Awd, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, and Pistol .45 Caliber (Expert). He was honorably discharged on December 15, 1983. After being discharged from the military, Malcolm studied Criminal Justice/Business Management and Special Education. He earned his Associates Degree and Bachelor of Science from Park University. Malcolm answered his passion of working with challenged and At-Risk Youth and was a former Special Education Teacher within DC Public Schools, Eadgemeade MD Center for Youth & Family Development, and Alternative Solutions for Youth.

While in the military, Malcolm married Sheila T. Allen "Cakes" (deceased). They resided in Accokeek, MD until she entered eternal life on August 30, 2015.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by his son, Eric Washington and sister Valerie E. Clayton.

Malcolm will be remembered by his grandchildren as "Ban-Daddy". He will be remembered as a die-hard Washington Redskins fan, his infamous "trash talking", stylish clothing, and choice of cars to family and friends. He loved crabs and hosting cookouts. He had the kind of personality everyone loved but also never fell short of speaking his mind and choice words. Malcolm enjoyed several hobbies including basketball, his favorite. While overseas, he played Euro Basketball for Korea and Germany. He enjoyed hanging out with family and friends hosting in his home, Lamont's Entertainment Complex Events, and Mattawoman. Malcolm was a loyal member of VFW Post #482 Forestville, MD and Lifetime member VFW Post #4262 Columbia, SC. He also was an Honorary Member of East Coast Busas M/C (MD, DC, VA).

Malcolm leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters Tonji Washington (Columbia, SC) and Nakeisha (Jermaine) Washington (Irmo, SC). Six grandchildren; Ebony Washington (Irmo, SC), Fatima Washington (Columbia, SC), Jermaine K. Washington (Irmo, SC), JaQuan Moore (Columbia, SC), Jaleel Washington (Greenville, SC), and Jayla Washington (Irmo, SC). Three great grandchildren; Jayden Grant (Columbia, SC), Michael Washington (Columbia, SC), and Zamir Livingston (Irmo, SC). Two sisters; Loretta Washington-King (Richmond, VA) and Helen Woodson (Richmond, VA). Two brothers; Thomas Washington (Richmond, VA) and Edward "T" Washington (Richmond, VA). One brother-in-law, Harold King (Richmond, VA) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Viewing, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, until time of Service, 12:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway Cheltenham, MD 20623.
