Obituary

Luther Franklin Maith entered eternal peace on October 3rd, 2025, at his home in Temple Hills, Maryland.

Luther was born in Callao, Virginia on August 26th, 1933, to the late Addison and Louise Maith.

Luther was baptized at an early age and was a member of Lively Hope Baptist Church in Callao. He attended school in Northumberland County. After his education his desire was to join the Army. He became a Seargent and served in Korea as an MP in 1953. Luther returned to the States in 1955 and completed his 8 year obligation in the Army Reserves. He married the late Susie (Grooms) Maith and from that union they became parents of a daughter and moved to Washington, DC. He worked as a tile setter in Virginia for many years. Luther later divorced, met and married Margie (McNeil) Maith. They moved to Maryland and from their union a son was born. Luther owned and operated multiple Auto Body & Fender shops in DC and Maryland, until his retirement. Luther joined Pleasant Grove Baptist in Washington, DC and served for 49 years where he was ordained as a Deacon in 2012. He later moved his membership closer to home at Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board, enjoying, fulfilling and continuing God's Work. His love for God was everlasting.

Luther was a Renaissance Man. He enjoyed baking and sewing. He was a jack of all trades (master of some J) working on home projects, gardening and planting fruit trees. He was a fan of WWE wrestling and Western movies, never missing an episode. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly named him "Grand Pooh".

It would be almost impossible to list the people he touched during his lifetime. His warm smile and pleasant attitude will be missed.

Luther is survived by his loving and devoted daughter and son, Sondra and Lang Maith; One sister, Lorraine Williams (Clyde); One brother in Christ, Joseph Maith (Angie); Five grandchildren, Alyshia, Leilani, London, Lang & Logan Maith; One Great-Grandson, Quincey Lucas and Two Great-Great Grandchildren, Adriyanna and Julian Lucas; Six Nieces; Seven Nephews; Great Nieces, Great Nephews; Devoted friend Barbara Thompson; Special Niece, Erika Maith; Kind family friend, Aletta Catoe and a host of family and friends.

Luther was proceeded in death by his parents Addison & Louise Maith; Four brothers, George, Raymond, Matthew and Woody and His wife, Margie Maith.
