Lula Mae Flagler Boyd Scott (Age 96) of Washington, DC.
Lula Mae Boyd Scott
September 30, 1920 – March 14, 2017
Lula Mae Boyd Scott was born September 30, 1920 in Kingstree, South Carolina to the late Isabel Flagler and John Nixon. She had a brother, Robert Flagler, and a sister, Lurlene Flagler Murphy. She gave her life to Christ and was a member of Peace Baptist Church in Washington, DC.
Lula was the proud mother of one son, Gregory King Scott Sr., who preceded her in death. He had two half sisters—Betty Jean Scott who preceded her in death and Gloria V. Baffoe—whom Lula treated like her own daughters.
Before she retired, Lula worked for many years as a domestic worker on Capitol Hill, Georgetown, at the Kennedy Warren Building in Washington, DC. Lula was feisty, funny, frugal, and the best friend you could ever have. She had a laugh that came deep from within. Lula met some hard challenges in life, but she met them head on.
She had a big heart and never forgot an anniversary or anyone's birthday. If you gave her a gift, she kept it forever in pristine condition. Lula was a great housekeeper and cook. She made the best baked ham, roast beef, rice and spaghetti.
On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Washington Center for Aging, Washington, DC, Lula Boyd Scott transitioned to eternal rest.
Lula is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rosemary Scott; grandchildren, Camille Kaye Scott McLeod, Gregory King Scott Jr. (Wakina), and Gerald Kenneth Scott Sr. (Curtrice). In addition, six great grandchildren (all boys): Richard, Gerald, Gregory, Gavin, Zachary, Garen, and a seventh grandson on the way.
After 96 years of life, Lula is finally home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
