Lucy Mae Lockard, affectionately known to her family as "Lu," was born October 7, 1926, to the late Inez Goldsmith in Greenville, South Carolina. She was 89 years old when she peacefully departed this life on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland.
Lucy was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Harry Lee Lockard. From this blessed union two daughters and a son were born.
She was proud of her family and loved spending time with them, especially the grandchildren. She was always there for them. Lucy enjoyed her family gatherings and looked forward to them with great anticipation. She was also a good cook. Lucy was a woman of quiet, peaceful and great strength. Her dependability and loyalty was for her family and their well-being. Lucy passed her faith filled, trustworthy and forgiving characteristics on to her family. She was a woman of great integrity.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband and son, Harry Lee Lockard, Sr., Harry Lee Lockard Jr., daughter, Shirley Sharpless and grandson, Brandon Scott.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Fleada Scott, grandchildren; Alfred McMurray, Jr., Marc Scott, Randolph Scott, III, Kelley Lockard and Samantha Sharpless, great grandchildren; Kyla Scott, Jalen McMurray, Simone Scott, Brooke Scott and Camryn McMurray, son-in-law, Randolph Scott II, grand daughters-in-law; Anne McMurray, Nateeka Scott and LaToya Scott, fiancée of Brandon Scott (deceased), Bridgette McKissic, sister, Edna Nash, sisters-in-law, Grace Mills and Sarah Robinson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her viewing will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service 11:00 a.m. at Dupont Park Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3895 Massachusetts Avenue, SE, Washington, DC. Interment, 10:00 am, Friday, December 4, 2015 at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
