Obituary

Boyce, Lorraine "Raine" Ella (Age 77) of Fort Washington, MD

Lorraine Ella "Raine" Boyce was born on December 22, 1938 in Port Tobacco, MD to the late Archie and the late Ella Gray. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball, dodge ball, and dancing with her sisters.

She received her education from Bates High School and later gained employment as an Environmental Service Technician at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, MD where she proudly worked for twenty-seven years.

On July 11, 1975, she married Cornelius L. Boyce and from that union a son was born. They were now a family of six to include three girls and one boy. "Raine," as she was affectionately known, was very family-oriented, always putting family first. She especially loved children whether they were hers or belonged to someone else. One of her favorite things to do was spend time with her grandchildren and take vacations with family. To family and friends, Lorraine was known for being loving, protective, and kind. One of the best pieces of wisdom that she imparted was "don't worry about it." In addition to spending quality time with family, Lorraine also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and taking pictures.

Lorraine will be greatly missed by family and loved ones, who will remember her as "Grandma."

In addition to her parents, she joins in glory her sisters, Veronica "Pete" Blair and Shirley Gray, brothers, Richard "Dickie" Gray, Austin "Bunny" Gray, James "Jimmy" Gray, and Charles Ghither, son-in-law, Thomas Phipps.

Left to cherish many fond memories is her loving husband, Cornelius Leon Boyce; children, Shelly R. Goings, Darlene Phipps, Andre L. Boyce, and Shaka Gray; grandchildren, Elvira Young, Jennifer (Harvey) Pearson, Brittany Goings, Marcus Goings, Alexis Stevenson, D'Andre Boyce, Adrian Boyce, De'Shayla Bell, CamRon Bell, and Tracey Bell; great grandchildren, Kennedy Graves and Damari Daye; son-in-law, David Goings; daughter-in-law, Tonya Boyce; sisters, Betty Jean Johnson, Tillie Lee, Ruth "Cuppie" Gross, Grace Bivins, and Joann Jamieson; brothers, John "Sonny" Gray, Leonard "Len" Gray and Owen Ghither; sisters-in-law, Irma "Chick", Catherine "Kitty", Octavia Gray and Lisa Gaither; brothers-in-law, Robert "Bobby," Roger "Winky," Chester, John "Johnny Boy," and Henry. In addition, she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thanks to the staff of McLeod Regional Hospital and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital.

Her viewing will be held 9am until time of service 11am, Saturday, September 17, 2016 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A. 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment, 10am Monday, September 19, 2016, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
