Lillian Cecelia Myers Richardson, Age 97 of Bryans Road, Maryland.

Lillian Cecelia Myers Richardson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2015 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in LaPlata, Maryland.

Lillian was born on January 25, 1918 in Croom, Maryland to Rev. F.D. Myers and Sarah Neale Myers.

She was educated in Charles County and finished high school at Douglas in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. She attended Bowie Normal School where she was named Homecoming Queen and obtained her reading certificate in 1941.

In 1946 she married Frederick F. Richardson and raised 3 boys, Eric, Wayne and Alan and 1 girl, Joy.

She began teaching in Brandywine and also taught in Waldorf, Marbury, and Pomonkey Elementary. She finally retired at Indian Head Elementary.

She was a very active member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church. She worked with the Senior Citizens at Metropolitan for many years teaching arts and crafts and leading exercises. She worked with the youth of Metropolitan, sent children to the Methodist Church summer camps and sponsored many bus trips to amusement parks in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Virginia and Florida. These fundraising trips enabled the youth to contribute to the new church building. She felt it was important for the youth to learn early on that they should always be giving. She also worked with the youth choir for many years, sewed robes for them and is known today as the Mother of the Choir. Later, she also made lavender choir dresses and matching dress shirts for the boys. She also transported many children to and from choir rehearsals. In the church, she was also President of both the Pastor/Parish Relations Committee and the Worship Committee. She was a member of the Gospel choir and sponsored a bowl-a-thon to raise money for their royal blue choir robes. She directed several plays. Some of them were taken on the road and performed more than once for Metropolitan. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and tutored for many years.

She loved to bowl and co-founded a bowling league which they called "The Golden Keglers".

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick F. Richardson, son, Eric, four brothers, Douglas, Richard Norman, French and Ralph, two sisters, Dorcas and Nancy.

She leaves fond memories to her children, Joy, Alan (Jocelyn) and Wayne; two devoted adopted daughters, Virginia Pickett and Carlene Richardson, twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, a few great-great grandchildren, one sister Ophelia, two brothers, Girard (Edith) and Oliver(Alice), her Metropolitan Church family and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation, 10am until time of Service, 11am, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 3385 Metropolitan Church Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment, 11am, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland.
