Lillian Ann Brooks, 81 of Fort Washington, Maryland.
Lillian A. Brooks passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Temple Hills, Maryland.
Lillian was born on a farm in Mitchellville, Maryland on March 5, 1944, to James Henry Brooks and Emma (Wilson) Brooks. She graduated from Fairmont Heights High School in 1962. She earned a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of the District of Columbia in 1978 and a Master's of Science in Contracts Management in 1994 from the Florida Institute of Technology. Lillian worked for the Department of the Navy (Civilian) and retired in 2000 after 33 years of dedicated service as a Supervisory Contract Specialist.
During her early life Lillian enjoyed dancing, playing cards and family gatherings. Lillian was known for speaking her mind. She did not shy away from leadership roles and served as a member of the Toastmasters Organization at work and on the board of her condominium association. She enjoyed happy hours with coworkers, bowling, tennis, golf and trips to Vegas with her sisters. She participated in Bible Studies for several years at her original church, St. Ignatius in Oxon Hill, Maryland. In later years she enjoyed playing bingo and taking monthly trips to local casinos as a member of the St. John's Church Senior Lunch Bunch. She enjoyed the R&B classics of Teddy Pendergrass, The Temptations, The Supremes, Barry White and Aretha Franklin, as well as smooth jazz. She also enjoyed growing plants in her home and on the balcony.
Cherished memories of Lillian will remain in the hearts of her sisters; Mary Govan, Henrietta Izzard, Georgianna Davis, Margaret Rush and Marjorie Brooks; brothers-in-law, Francis Washington, Lawrence Davis and Leonard Rush; nieces and nephews, Jonathan Izzard (Morlon), Judy Izzard, Kathy Lewis, Jeffery Washington, Evelyn Washington, Janice Washington (Ron), Patricia Washington, Thomas Washington (Azza), Natalie Thomas, Sheldon Thomas and Jessica Rush; and a host of great nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors, and former coworkers.
