LEWIS HAMPTON COTTOM, JR. (AGE 57) OF BRYANS ROAD, MARYLAND
Lewis Hampton Cottom Jr. was born on December 24, 1963 in Washington DC, to both the late Lewis H. Cottom Sr. and Marlene N. Cottom.
Lewis (Uncle Lou / Louie) a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to those who knew him. He enjoyed spending quality time with family & friends laughing, making music, and baby sitting his neices and nephews serving as a role model and mentor to loved ones unconditionally. His smile and big personality could warmed the hearts of many. He attended the DCPS System in the Washington Metropolitan Area where he further continued his education earning a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts working diligently and tirelessly as a musician through the music industry.
His dedication and passion for music would lead him into a journey were melodies and love collide landing him opportunities to perform live with many celebraties imitating their sounds to the tee. He loved to sing and played various instruments such as the keyboard however, his love for the bass guitar is where he found his chord. He could stroke a key gracefully serenading the ladies and pierce the soul. He would later move to became a resident of Newark, New Jersey to join unions with his true love Ms. Valerie Cottom who also preceeded him in death. He was called home to be reunited with them and the Lord on February 6, 2021.
Lewis was the baby boy out of five children of which his (3) brothers: James Cottom (deceased); William (Billy) Howard (deceased); and Alan Walton Sr. (deceased) preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: (2) sisters & (2)Brother in laws: Patricia A. Coleman (Robert Coleman Sr. deceased) and Sharen Myers ( French Myers Sr.), (1) sister in law Beverly Howard (11 ) Nieces, ( 5 ) nephews; and a host of other devoted family members and friends who love him.
His Viewing will be 10:00 am, until time of Service, 11:00 am, Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
